“Vitruvian Redux” – Il Scimmia – 2025

Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Artist: Il Scimmia
Material: Canvas stretched on wooden frame

Vitruvian Redux is a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic vision of human proportions – yet here, the old ideal steps into a new age. Il Scimmia takes the classical figure and places him in a world where the boundaries of possibility are constantly shifting. The modern human no longer stands still within a fixed grid of truths; he pushes against the frames, breaks free, and redraws them.

In Vitruvian Redux, humanity itself becomes the tool. Knowledge and will merge into a force that challenges past limitations – and in the fusion of neon energy, mathematical geometry, and the timeless symbolism of the body, something new emerges.

The classical body, inspired by the scientific ideals of the Renaissance, is here charged with the questions of our time: What is knowledge when information is infinite? What is competence when humans can create their own? And what happens when tools are no longer separate from us – but extensions of our will?
